cnc router - foam maze
My assignment was to design a maze no bigger than 8.5x11 inches. It could be any shape as long as it fits on the dimensions given. The maze should have a ¼ inch border around the perimeter and have ¼ inch. channels for the ball to travel. The material will be ¾ inch thick. There must be a definite start location and finish location. I will use the CNC router to cut out the entire maze including channels, start/finish and perimeter.
This was my initial design in my notebook. I ended up not including the handles on the end in my final design.
First I designed my maze in Inventor, following the steps in Inventor of sketching, dimensioning, and extruding.
Next I used Autodesk Fusion 360 to set up my maze for the router. For the most part, I followed the same steps I did for the CNC mill widget except I exported it to the router to make the Gcode.
Once I had the Gcode, all I had to do was connect it to the computer and let the machine do its job.
My Final Product:
what i learned
I learned how to use a new machine for this assignment. I furthered my knowledge in Inventor and even more in Fusion 360, however actually getting to use the CNC router was the biggest achievement. Now I can say I know how to use another machine.
